January 22 LydiaI had to write down something Lydia said yesterday so I don't forget it. She was having a very rough time in church yesterday. First, when we went to the bathroom she asked if she could slide down the slide afterwards. I told her that she could one time. The negotiator says, "How about for 5 minutes?" I said, "No, one time." So we go to the bathroom and as we are walking out she says, "Mommy I'll go down the slide 2 times." Again I tell her only one time. She then insists that she is going down 2 times, so I tell her she has lost her privilege of going down the slide at all and we are going straight back to church. Her face registered shock and awe that she wasn't getting her way. So we go back into church and she is so upset about the slide that she just can't get along with Jasmine, and she threw a toy at her! I sat her on the seat and asked her what was wrong with her. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and said, "Mommy, I just can't get rid of the grumps!" I asked her if she wanted to pray that Jesus would help her get rid of the grumps, and she said, "No, the grumps just keep getting in me!" Kind of reminds me of Romans 7:17 "Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me."
Well, she eventually got over the grumps and is doing better. January 08 Happy New YearCan't believe we're already a week into the new year. Time flies when you're having fun.
The kids are hilarious. Emily's favorite word is "No!" and she can say it in many different tones depending on the occasion. Elijah is still chubby and is kind of starting to have separation anxiety when in the nursery. Lydia watched the American Girl movie, "Molly, an American Girl on the Homefront" and has to call it by its full title every time she talks about it. Well, there is a girl in it named Emily from London and she tells the girls that she is very rich and lives in Bennet Manor. Lydia asks me, "Mommy, who is Bennet Manna?" in a total English accent. I laughed so hard. Now when Aaron comes home from work she says, "Hey, you look different. You look like Bennet Manna!" It kills me every time to hear her voice with the accent.
Tax season is gearing up so I'll be very busy over the next few months. But we are taking a break the first week of February to go to California. Aaron got a ding special very cheap. He called my mom to see if she and my dad needed to go out there for anything. She didn't, and called back a few minutes later and said she wanted me and Aaron to go and she and dad would keep the kids! So we are leaving the first and coming home the sixth, I think. I am really looking forward to it; we haven't been back to California since 2000. Well, I've got to get to bed so I can be bright eyed at 6:15 for the treadmill! |
